Having the opportunity to work with students interested in French has been one of the best things for me. I am at deciding if I want to become a teacher or not and working in the English corner as a French teacher has helped me to better understand teaching. Also my students are very diligent and work hard to learn French. They come to class every week and are eager to learn.

Luke talks about Thanksgiving
The Thanksgiving party was an excellent holiday party at the English Corner and I feel part of the reason why it is such a special holiday is because it is possibly the most unknown American holiday in Taiwan; thus, this holiday party offered a great educational opportunity for the Taiwanese.
The Most Unforgettable Trip to Sheng Keng
It’s nice to have this chance to hang out with foreign exchange students. For a lot of Taiwanese students it’s hard to have this chance. As young folks like us, we don’t usually hang out with our friends like Sheng Keng, which for us is more like a place all around with that old fashioned stuff. But this time we had a lot of interesting things over there.

Edision the newcomer!
I am the “new kid” of English Corner, as an ordinary student and as a TA too. At Welcome Party and Halloween Party, I didn’t really have done anything except for taking photos. Not being cynical about anything, I’d rather see it as a learning process. I haven’t been having much interaction with the TAs who originally work there. Some took it as my being shy, yet it’s not exactly the case. Perhaps I’ve been feeling a little intimidated because the TAs seemed to have already known one another very well. And I usually take my time blending in a group of people, as if it’s one of my signature characteristics.

Last week the English corner had an excursion that took us all out to the traditional market road in Sheng Keng. It was a great opportunity for us to have an amazing cultural experience and bond together as a group. All of us who work in the English corner tend to run on very tight schedules, and at first I was worried that I didn’t really have the energy to support the levels of enthusiasm I felt the trip warranted. Luckily for me, the energy coming from our students and teachers rubbed off on me as soon as we boarded the bus.
Impossible to say goodbye
If I really had to choose a word to describe the English Corner, I could only give you a big smile without words----though I can no longer visit as usual like before. Right now, I am studying in NTTU, and thinks back to SHU what always comes up in my memories are times filled with crazy laughter, considerate actions, unrestrained and vigorous style and colorful images.
What’s that smell !?

When you look back at our trip to Shengkeng, what is the first thing you remember? Is it the food, the atmosphere, the people, Isaac eating all the food on the table or do you remember something much more than that? Maybe the odor was something most remember; however, for me, the time spent with my students and others who I have never met is the first thing that comes to mind. I have traveled to many places, mainly alone, but taking a trip with your friends is a more exciting feeling.

It Has Been Two Years Now
Two years ago, I was chosen to be an English Corner tutor during my freshman year. I can still remember my very first English student, she was a girl from English department, who later become a local tutor as well. I was so shy and nervous because I felt extremely anxious during my first formal teaching experience. Luckily, she was very kind are friendly, we had a good talk and I believe we both learned something that day.

The trip to Shen Keng
For the young generation like us, we usually enjoy hanging out with friends in places like night markets, department stores, Karaoke, theme parks and so on. But as the student of Shin Hsin University, I haven’t thought about going to ShenKeng with friends and exchange students though it is close to our campus.

I have worked in the English corner for one year. I am very happy to be teaching students here because it is a good place for me to advance my English skills, while helping other students who are learning English as well. I am outgoing, responsible and get along well with my students and co- workers. The English Corner is trying to construct an English immersion environment for students to practice their speaking ability. Furthermore, the English Corner usually holds a lot of parties and activities, which provide students with a-new learning experiences of authentic the American culture.

The weather is getting colder and colder here in Taiwan, and the semester is disappearing faster than ever! I cannot believe it is almost midterms here at Shih Hsin - it seems as if I just arrived last week. The constant stream of activities and hanging out with friends has given me very little time to spare. Not that I’m complaining, I’m having a lot of fun in Taiwan, helped by the many friendly students at SHU.

I still can't believe I'm already wrapping up my first full month week at Shih Hsin University...in some ways, it already seems like I've always lived here.

As a student worker at the English corner, at first I really did not know what to expect. I knew students would come in to practice their English with me and the other student workers and I also knew the students would come to learn more about the foreign student workers.
