French Blog: English Corner

Having the opportunity to work with students interested in French has been one of the best things for me. I am at deciding if I want to become a teacher or not and working in the English corner as a French teacher has helped me to better understand teaching. Also my students are very diligent and work hard to learn French. They come to class every week and are eager to learn.

The students don’t only learn the French language, but I will teach them something about the culture. I have studied French in my university for 2 years and visited Paris, France where I studied French also. Going to France was a good experience for me, in which I met a lot of good people, and we still keep in touch now.

Studying French is wonderful because so many people in the world speak French like many people from West Africa, Haiti, many countries in Europe and Canada to name a few. There are other classes also offered at the English corner like art, yoga, photography, Spanish, and efficient reading. I encourage all SHU students to take advantage of these opportunities and maybe even make some new friends whether it is Taiwanese or Foreigner.

It has been a pleasure working at English corner to teach French and I am sad that this week is my last class. I have grown very much attached to my students and I an also very proud of them. I also appreciate that the English corner offers some French movies in their selection of film choices. It was nice when my students and I watched French and they had a chance to her some French words they have been leering all semester. Even though they are not fluent in French they understood some words and it made them so happy and that made me happy.
