About Corner

　座落於言論廣場展覽廳內之「英語沉浸園」(English Corner)其設計理念為一「全英語」的環境取其Total immersion in English（沉浸於英語中）的含意，目的在希望藉此提昇學生英語表達能力與學習興趣，進到園內的人必須全程說英語。

　English Corner自2002年成立以來，即不斷尋求自我創新及境界的提升。2003年開始，引進美東及美中西部姐妹校交換學生，進駐Corner擔任小老師，在校園掀起一陣文化交流及英語學習熱潮。從此每學期Corner不斷推陳出新，舉辦各類型的工作坊，包括英語寫作班、英語履歷撰寫班、認識外國文化飲食及習俗如英式下午茶，俄國文化與飲食、南非風光，空氣中經常瀰漫一股異國風味。此外，每學期邀請各交換學生介紹姐妹校特色，激勵同學參與國際學術交流計畫。另配合西洋節令，舉辦萬聖節、感恩節及聖誕節等Party，讓同學感受外國節慶的氣氛。

　目前Corner的運作採預約制，報名登記踴躍。Corner在實體上只是校園的一隅，在文化及精神的遨遊卻是無遠弗屆。新的 Corner內部裝潢簡約典雅，世界地圖盤據中央，代表本校國際化的企圖。歡迎全校師生參觀使用，為English Corner再創新局！

General Description

The English Corner, closely affiliated with the Language Center, was inaugurated on October 18, 2002 as part of the university’s internationalization drive. Located at the heart of the university in Speech Square, the Corner is an English language enclave and lounge for students, staff and faculty. As a popular haunt for English enthusiasts, the Corner exudes a cyber cafe atmosphere.

We have exchange students from our sister schools in the United States as English tutors at Corner starting from 2003, triggering a craze for English-learning and culture- exchanging. Ever since then, Corner has provided students with plenty activities such as writing classes, get to know foreign culture/eating habit speeches, and all kinds of celebrations for occasions, for instances, Halloweens, Thanksgiving and Christmas Parties.

Corner currently sets up an “appointment with your tutor” system and runs successfully. The brand new Corner with elegant, succinct interior decoration plus a world map in the middle of the room, representing our attempt to be internationalized. We are sincere to welcome each and all of you to stop by Corner and join us!
