Edision the newcomer!

I am the “new kid” of English Corner, as an ordinary student and as a TA too. At Welcome Party and Halloween Party, I didn’t really have done anything except for taking photos. Not being cynical about anything, I’d rather see it as a learning process. I haven’t been having much interaction with the TAs who originally work there. Some took it as my being shy, yet it’s not exactly the case. Perhaps I’ve been feeling a little intimidated because the TAs seemed to have already known one another very well. And I usually take my time blending in a group of people, as if it’s one of my signature characteristics.

There were always plenty of foods on the parties, uh, maybe in some ways, not plentiful enough, take pizza as an example. I am really amazed by how fast it was consumed. Not that I hold the grudge for not having eaten much pizza, I just found it very interesting observing this phenomenon.

Taking photos is not solely a “lonesome” job. It’s also a good opportunity to observe people, which can be quite amusing. One other interesting thing to do when taking photos is to study a person’s face. I’m not talking about it from the sociological angle, but from the photographic angle. “Studying the face” means to find the angles of the face that will be photographed beautifully, in other words, the angles for the models to fall into to have a beautiful picture. As a result, I’ve discovered that some people are photogenic, even though they don’t know about it themselves.

I am quite pleased about the job of taking photos and that people like the photos that I took, because it makes feel needed, I think. But does it mean that I will stick to phototaking all along in the future? I don’t think so. It’s like in the field of film, one will learn only one skill if they keep doing the same job over and over again.
