If I really had to choose a word to describe the English Corner, I could only give you a big smile without words----though I can no longer visit as usual like before. Right now, I am studying in NTTU, and thinks back to SHU what always comes up in my memories are times filled with crazy laughter, considerate actions, unrestrained and vigorous style and colorful images.
It’s unbelievable and surprising to think the corner gave me a chance to be a tutor as a freshman. In fact, at first I thought it was just a serious place in which you couldn’t do anything but speak English. However, English corner has taught and told me by saying “you are totally wrong!”
Playing insane music for strangers is something I’ve wished for and the corner let us hold a show as we wanted; having sweet tea time in the afternoon was magnificent as we spent graceful moment in British fragrance; feeling nervous for the unprepared notes of my own students; exploring the tattoo streets, holding extraordinary magic shows…. and so on. I learned many lessons every time, getting along with exchange students and other departments; they are all awesome, passionate, talented and humble.
If I was still a student at SHU, I would rush over to that inspiring place without a second thought. You won’t find any other paradises of learning like the English Corner elsewhere!
