    I am lucky to become one of the new tutors at English Corner for this semester.  During the first month, I met many new friends, joined the Welcome party, and meanwhile started helping students with their English questions.  I am excited to be a part of this big family and can’t wait to share this with all of you!

    If you ask me what the best thing is being a member of English Corner, my answer will definitely be the opportunity to meet many wonderful friends.  In fact, it is hard to describe how I feel as a newcomer since everyone is so friendly and treats me like their old friend.  We chat (or sometimes gossip :P), discuss new activities, work together, have fun at parties, and enjoy every moment here!  Everything seems to happen so naturally, and I feel very comfortable being here.  At the same time, I also feel excited because all of my new co-workers are sophisticated.  They are all excellent tutors, and they teach me how to be a good tutor.


    Besides meeting new friends, I also have a lot of fun at the English Corner activities.  At the Welcome party, which was also my first activity at the English Corner, I was only assigned to do some trivial work, but I was totally amazed by the atmosphere at the party.  There were delicious foods served on the table (and they are too delicious to stay on the table over 20 minutes), people were chatting, and the music was wonderful… everything was great and interesting!  At the end of the party we were laughing and crazy for the hot dance by our international students Lance, Jordan, and one of our students.  I was happy and also very proud that I could be one of the members of this wonderful activity.

    The other enjoyable thing about my new job is to help students with their English problems.  Although I have had some experiences of teaching English, it is still a challenging thing for me to be a tutor at the English Corner.  During the first month, I have met two active and hard-working students, and they also let me know that I can help my students understand not only the language but also the different cultures between western and eastern culture!  I really learn a lot from them, too.


    As tutors at English Corner, our job is building an English environment on the campus.  I am proud that I can be one of the members here, and I expect myself to keep meeting new people, have more chances to help students, and learn more about different things here!
